The Histadrut Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed (Union of Working and Stufying Youth) is the biggest socialist zionist youth movement in Israel. Graduates of the youth movement in the 1980's were arguably the first 'chalutzim' (pioneers) of the new kibbutz movement, by developing their new adult communes, kvutzot and kibbutzim as a renewed way of fulfilling their classical movement ideology. There are now dozens of adult kvutzot all over Israel, with many hundreds of members aged from early 20's to mid 30's, in the Tnuat Bogrim (adult movement) of Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed. Some kvutzot have renewed existing kibbutzim and other rural settlements, such as Ravid, Eshbal and Hanaton. Others are located in urban settings, such as Acco, Beer Sheva, Haifa, and Tel Aviv. All kvutzot are ideologically focussed on bringing about social change in wider Israeli society through living collectively and intimately whilst working in education.
